I've been busy

I did get all of my 168 basket blocks done and my flimsy made.

But, in the back ground I have been doing this.. This picture was taken about a month ago. The tomato plants are much bigger now. And, alot of them have went to good homes.

I have been working outside alot now. Since the weather here in Ill. has been cooperating.

We have our garden planted. My herb bed is planted. Flower bed and pots planted. We added a new asparagus bed this year. And, 3 blueberry bushes.  I'll try to get pictures of this up soon.

So, there may not bee much sewing at the Inn this summer, as I like to be outside as much as possible.

I did have some garlic that I really needed to do something with. So out came the dehydrator, and the blender, and I made some garlic powder.

I planted alot of garlic cloves last fall. So, I will have more.

Country Charmer

First I want to THANK Lynn from  http://sewnwildoaks.blogspot.com/ for creating such a beautiful quilt. And, then there is Lesley from   http://lesleythecuddlequilter.blogspot.com/ that planned a quilt along. I must admit I was on the fence about making this quilt. But, once I saw the QAL I decided why not.

Making the first two blocks scared the be gibbers out of me.

And, I took a brake. For a couple months.............

But, then I got back to work. And, once these were made........

Before I knew it I had these.

OK, So now I was on a roll.. I made some of these..

Now how could I stop there..

Then I got stumped about my boarders.

I knew the first one was going to be white. But, would the outside be red?

Or blue?

OOPS!  My basket quilt wasn't done yet. Do you see it on the right.

Well, hear is the choice I made. And, boy was it a hard choice. They both worked so well.

Thank You Sue, for creating such a lovely pattern. And, Thank You Lesley for getting me off the fence. It was SOOOOO worth it.

Grandma's Flower Garden

My Grandmother made this quilt top.

And this is the label I made for it.

I felt very honored to have been asked to hand quilt this for my aunt.

I must admit there were days when I wondered what I had gotten myself into.

But I pressed on. And I'm glad I did.

This beauty will live on in our family as a reminder of a great talent the she has past on. And, I was blessed to be a part of it.

I BELIEVE.... I have it fixed

I was so frustrated. This silly Gloogle+ had me as a no reply blogger. Very Sad!!

I finally found a sight that helped.

http://mrslambsclass.blogspot.com/2012/07/what-im-no-reply-blogger-google-fix.html

Apperantly Google+ IS a no reply blog. Not fun.

I sure hope it's fixed now.
Thank You to all that have emailed me with advice. And, sights to go to.

Country Charmer Update:

No sewing on my Country Charmer this month

 due to these little baskets.

But do go over to http://lesleythecuddlequilter.blogspot.com/ to follow the monthly progress.

http://sewnwildoaks.blogspot.com/  is the designer of the Lovely quilt and shows us great tricks and tips on assembling the blocks. And, a lot of eye candy.

There is also pictures of blocks made over here. http://www.flickr.com/groups/2163397@N21/

There are a lot of people around blogland making this quilt. And, I now need to clean my computer screen from all the drooling. And, get to making my own!

Learning something new!

I'm still working on basket blocks. I cut and organize some pieces.

Then start sewing them together. This is where I have learned something new.

Did you know this is called a Toads Toe? Yep, a Toads Toe. I see it. Funny name.
Well, any way, I now have 50 blocks made.

I am shooting for 120. Then to place them on my design wall. I am wanting a full or queen size quilt.

I'm also working on my hand quilting.

Half way there. I am falling in love with this quilt. I can see my grandma wasn't a perfect quilter. And, it is reminding me to not be so hard on myself. It's not about the Perfection. It's the journey!

I'm Slacking again.

I'm slacking again. But, for good reason.

I had an Uncle Pass last week. So, getting my sisters called and going to the funeral took some time.

I did however find this cute little block that I thought I'd try to make

Yep, It will be 1  1/2 inches when finished. WOW! tiny.

I made 9 of them and come up with this.

can you see my mistakes. Well, there's several. But one really stands out.

Yep, Bottom Left corner. And, I didn't even see it until I had it quilted. I guess this is my Humble Blocks.

I also put a quilt in my quilting frames.

This quilt top was made by my grandmother and now belongs to my Aunt. She has asked me to hand quilt it for her.
I haven't hand quilted in years. So, bare with me. It might take awhile.

Life at the Inn is good!!!!

Country Charmer Quiltalong

Country Charmer Quiltalong :

I'm late getting this posted today. The day has gotten away from me.

Today over at http://lesleythecuddlequilter.blogspot.com/  she was going to have a schedule. Today we were suppose to have our fabric and have the pieces cut.

I did manage to get my background fabric cut.

I knew this was what I was going to go with. So, far so good.

How ever, I am still auditioning reds, and blues.

This is what I have so far.

I'm loving making these blocks. The more I make the more addicting they are. And, I have made others. But, not liking them so much.

Don't forget that http://sewnwildoaks.blogspot.com/ made the pattern and is posting VERY helpful hints on the construction of the quilt.

If your fretting over color matches, read her post on Thursday Jan 31st. Very helpful!

There are several people in blogland that are making this quilt. You can find some of us on the flicker page that has been set up. LOVING this too.

http://www.flickr.com/groups/2163397@N21/

I'm off to audition more fabric.

LOVE, HUGS, and PRAYERS,
Carolyn
